About the Dickinson County Genealogical Society
The Dickinson County Genealogical Society [DCGS] is a non-profit genealogical organization located in Dickinson County, Michigan. An organizational meeting was held February 17, 1977, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain under the direction of Beatrice Blomquist. The following officers were elected: James LaVoie, president; Nancy LaVoie, secretary-treasurer; Rev. Donald Wold, publicity chairman. The constitution was adopted in May, 1977. Click here to see the Dickinson County Genealogical Society Officers from 1977 to date.In 1981 the DCGS decided to publish a quarterly featuring items of genealogical interest pertaining to Dickinson County and the surrounding area. Volume 1, Number 1 of Dickinson Diggings - The Quarterly Publication of the Dickinson County Genealogical Society was published in January, 1982, and has been continuously published since that time. Society InformationMEETINGS: Regular meetings of the DCGS are held the fourth Thursday of January, February, March, April, May, September and October at 1:00 p.m. in the Local History Room of the Dickinson County Library. In November the DCGS meets the third Thursday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in the same place. No meetings are held in June, July, August and December. Visitors are always welcome.MEMBERSHIP: Memberships in the run for the calendar year. Dues are $12.00 per year for a single membership or $15.00 per couple.
